Hi Gary3612! What do you like so much about it? I live in Ohio, by Cleveland area, and it's not in any stores yet. They said about a week or 2. Tell me why you feel it's the best phone you've had. I would like to know if the ringers are loud, and aren't the stereo speakers on the back of the phone? I also read it has a little less talk time than the 8300. Also, is the resolution better on this one? The 8300 was too pixeled. Please give me your feedback. I was thinking of getting one. I want one that is loud, sturdy, good battery life, good sound quality, etc. The resolution I'm talking about would be on the outer screen. The 8300 was terrible on that. Hopefully, they got rid of the red bars on the inside screen. I would appreciate your feedb...

I came from using a LG VX3200 which I liked. The reception is very good. I bike along the Rio Grande and signal there is bad, but I was able to hold a call for 10 miles, with only 1 disconnect during the call. The ringers are plenty loud though I feel the selection of "standard" ringers could be better. The speakers are on the back but sound fine. I never owned a 8300 so I can't comment on talk time comparison with that phone. I get 3 to 4 days on a full charge (EV-DO is turned OFF), so that's fine by me. Both displays look great to me. Sound quality is good too. I really the camera. I don't see any red bars. The outisde color is sort of a dark grey, inside is all black. I like the look of it better than the 8300.

I've been trying to think of negatives for this phone and this is all I can think off so far:
I don't see how to enable MP3 playing on the service menu. I think Verizon wants to sell more music.
No large font for contact list, but the contrast is excellent and the text is very crisp looking and actually easier to read than some larger fonts on other phones.
The battery life could be better I suppose, though I don't really mind charging my phone every 3 days or so.

Also: Some of my friends who have it reported it sounded a little like they are talking through a tin can, but I'm picky about sound quality and I didn't hear that (I would take it back if i did) even when talking vx8350-to-vx8350 with my wife. I think it depends on how you...

Hey gary3612. I'm still trying to find the phone in the Cleveland, Suburbs area, but no one has it yet. They said they have to sell out of the 8300 and then they will get it. I'll keep looking. Someone said they thought it was made of cheap plastic, do you get that feeling? They said it was a downgrade from the 8300. Does it feel really sturdy? Which buttons do you have to press to light up the time on the outside screen.? Are they right on the front or on the side? Is the keypad pretty easy to text on, and is the backlight on the keypad bright enough? Is the front screen lear and crisp? The 8300 was very pixeled, almost a little blurry. If you don't mind, please respond to my concerns. I would really appreciate your feedback and you time. T...

I have to say its a poor phone compared to what I'm used to. For some reason the T9 (predictive text entry) is not working which makes it a bitch to text. If anyone knows how to turn this feature on please let me know. Also, the down arrow, clear, and speaker button are right in line and two close together. I'm constantly turning on the calender when I want the speaker etc. The sound quality is pretty good but I get just as many dropped calls as I did with Cingular. Maybe that is a carrier and not a phone problem. I have to say the motorolla was a much better phone.

Predictive text works fine, its just not on by default, that's all.

Just go to the Messaging menu (its of the five big menus, along with Contacts, Recent Calls, Get It Now, and Settings & Tools).

From there, choose Settings (top left button), then choose Entry Mode. Then choose Word, which is what VZW calls predictive text.

I wish it was on by default, but I guess texting newbs are used to the old-fashioned 'Abc' mode non-predictive text, and predictive confuses them? Who knows.

I just got my phone on Friday & think it's great so far. How do you turn the EV-DO off? I know how to turn it off on the 8100 & 8300, but not on the 8350 yet.

Thanks!

To turn off EV-DO:
Enter ##program8350 (same as ##77647268350)
Press "Send"
Enter service code "000000"
Select "3. Network Select"
Select "1. Mode Preference"
Select "1X Only"

Note that if you ever do a *228 to program your phone, the network mode preference will be reset to the default "Digital Only Hybrid" and you will need to repeat this to turn off EV-DO.

THANK YOU!!

Yes, I know that I have to repeat this everytime I update the roaming network. I do it all the time on the 8100 & 8300, but couldn't figure out how to do it on the 8350.

THANKS AGAIN!!

Gary, so if I understand correctly, since I don't use EVDO services (i.e. mobile web) I should increase the battery life on my 8350 by having EVDO shut off, right?

Thanks, Scott
