At&t will be picking up this phone

Spoke to several reps and they said they will be getting this phone in 1 to 2 months. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not dropping $600+ just to have it first. The rep said it would probably be $299.99 w/ 2year contract. Nothing was 100%, but all 3 ppl I talked to said that they would be getting it. Already have my cruiser cable from unlocking my w810i, so i hope it works with the k850i. $35 more and its just as good as the $600 one. Maybe even more GOODER! cause it was cheaper. Just hope they get them in velvet blue, cause the green is DOO DOO!

It's going for about 500-600 bucks on ebay right now so I'd say 299 with 2 year contract is a fair estimate for the 850, and possibly 199 with contract for thw W910 if they decide to pick that one up too. One for pix, one for music... sounds like a good plan to me but who knows what AT&T will wind up doing.

Sony Style has this phone on their site for $499.99. You can preorder it and it's expected to ship around 2/15/08.

god i hope so. right now att has a horrible selection of SE phones. my w810 went through the wash and all they had to offer was the w580. some aspects of it are better but i still prefer the 810. the k850 seems like the reasonable upgrade for an 810 user. however, i wasn't going to plunk down the 400+ bucks to get one. got a phone coming up for contract renewal in july. hopefully they'll realize that not everyone wants and iphone and will start carrying some the amazing SE phones. I just wonder how the media player is compared to the walkman phones.

Per SE rep... This phone was canceled by at&t. The next phone will be the Z750. It's a shame...

check out howardforums. the att reps over there insist there is no truth at all to these rumors and that att is still releasing this phone

They are for sure getting the Z750 but the K850 has still shown up in some ATT docs distributed to employees apparently

Well I won't speculate, but that was directly from the Sony Ericsson rep. I'd trust him a bit more than an at&t rep (assuming sales rep).

Yeah, I heard from an SE rep that Cellular One would be getting the K850 around Thanksgiving, and this was from the kind that travels with test models and slideshow presentations and not just some random employee on the customer service hotline.

Take it all with a grain of salt folks. If they get it, they'll get it. If not, oh well, buy an unlocked one online. Coincidentally though, Engadget had some leaked powerpoint slides from an AT&T meeting a few months back that showed the K850 as a March '08 launch. Guess we will know in a few weeks.

Hmmm... ATT cancels a phone with amazing hardware, performance and potential to get a far less amazing flip phone from SE... And somehow I am not surprised.

Man if they don't get this phone I will lose the last shred of faith I had in the US cellular market haha

well some att reps on howardforums say when they look on their list of "Do Not Insure" phones. this phone is still on there.

FYI - There are plenty of phones on the "Do not insure" list that we've never carried. The information that I got from the SE rep was on 2/21. I don't see any reason for him to mis-inform us. I guess we'll see what happens. This was going to be my next phone, but now I've lost hope.

Ugh, they better get it. Evyertime I call they don't know anything. Sonystyle had this listed as for sale already but apparently pushed it back to the 7th of March. Maybe thats around the time ATT is going to get it. That's what I'm hoping for. Can't believe everything people tell you. Especially when it's one person... Or ATT 😛

I've been waiting for this phone since before thanksgiving. They better get it! Also, I have a phone that wasn't availabe to insure then, so whatever.

i think you may be confused, when i said the phone was listed as do not insure, thats a good thing. i assumed it meant they were going to carry it, but allow insurance on it, like they do many of their high end phones. why would they have the phone listed as do not insure if they arent even going to carry it?

Well one thing I could think of was that Cellular One up in the Northeast was going to be getting the phone and then AT&T snapped up that whole company so it could just be a holdover from their documents and such.

I really hope this phone comes out, It seems like US companies are against any form of innovation!

So can we assume it will be coming? I have been watching the status of this phone for MONTHS now. I can't wait for it to be available through at&t. Im officially dropping Verizon and switching to at&t just to have this phone!

Anyone know when a rough time this phone will be available to the public?

Per the FCC website, AT&T *WILL* be getting this phone shortly. If you go to the main product info page, the second FCC filing by AT&T can be found there dated March 6th, as well as the instruction manual in PDF format with AT&T network and media now info throughout.

Like I said in a different post, just because they are employed by SE, that doesn't mean they are the final word. No info on pricing or availability, but once the final papers are filed with the government, carriers like push out products as soon as possible.

why would att submit these docs to the fcc on march 6th 2008 if they arent releasing it?

Because they *are* releasing it. Soon, I would expect. They need to start releasing some quality phones to pick up the slack between now and the eventual roll out of the new iPhone, whenever that happens.

according to the operating manual on the fcc site it looks like the only difference between the k850i and the k850a is that the k850a doesn't have the forward facing camera for video calls... I've heard so many rumors about this phone coming to AT&T and I hope something can be worked out between SE and AT&T...
