Motorola RAZR2 V9m

Is there a way to "force" the keypad backlight to come on for this model? Like the V3M you could just cover up the sensor. I've tried covering up the sensor at the top of the keypad on my Razr 2 and the keypad still won't light up. I haven't had to use it in the dark yet and just want to know that it will work since I can't get it to come on. I also couldn't find a setting in the menu to make it always on, does this phone even have a keypad backlight?!
