Motorola RAZR2 V9m
Motorola RAZR2 V9m vs. LG VX-8700 (Verizon Wireless)
I've narrowed my choices to these 2 models and have the following comments and questions:
1. The V9m is a LARGE phone. Have any users found it to be too bulky?
2. The font on the v9m seems small and is unadjustable (vs. 3 adjustable fonts on the VX-8700). Have any V9m users found the text to be too small (especially those that may need reading glasses)?
3. Reviews for call clarity and signal strength have been favorable for both models. Has anyone on here done a side by side comparison of one vs. the other? I've read reviews that both sound more like landlines than mobile phones.
4. The VX-9700 SAR rating is 60% higher than that of the V9m (1.13 vs. 0.71). All things being equal, why take the chance, right?

One of two big benefits to the V9M is the fact that it is one of the first phones out to have the industry standard (recently adopted) micro usb connector for charging. Adaptors are cheap and available from the mini-usb. Sure beats the other proprietary LG type connector.
Kind of like would you buy a new flat panel tv that doesn't have the standard 120v plug for your wall?
The other big benefit is that Mot phones have sidetone, as in it sounds like a normal phone. You can hear as you talk (it's NOT an echo) actually how you sound.
Great RF is another. I don't know how the 8700 is.
The 8700 does have a decent size font. Few others in the line up do.

2. Vibrate is somewhat weak, but I'm not sure how you would make it more noticable in a phone that size.
3. Battery life is anemic. I've conditioned the battery (some say you have to do it...others say it doesn't apply to Lithium Ion batteries. I don't care for LG phones, so I have no means to compare.
4. I'd recommend it to anybody in the market for a quality device. It's a phone...not a PDA. It's a phone...not a laptop computer. Accept it for what it is...a high quality cell phone, and I think you'll be pleased.
Previous phone was an E815...and I had hoped to have that last through spring, when my new every 2 kicked in/additional colors/price reductio...
