Just out of curiosity, who is happy and who is/was not happy with their V9m for Verizon? What were/are your likes and dislikes?

VZW's version of Razr 2 is form over substance.

Likes:
1. Gorgeous
2. Crystal clear calls, like a landline
3. Nicely spaced keypad
4. Well built and seems sturdy

Dislikes:
1. Useless huge outer screen - Can't read text msg and picture ID is tiny
2. Can't put on vibe mode w/o opening flip and scrolling with volume rocker
3. Width of phone didn't fit comfortably in my hand (I guess I would have had same problem with old Razr V3)
4. When scrolling through different numbers for a contact, the phone number does not appear, only the work/mobile, etc icon.
5. Weight of phone felt heavy after talking for a while
6. Cannot press speed dial # and press send. Have to press and hold only

The Razr 2 didn't work out for me, so I ended...

Ha that is true. The vibrate is very weak. Even when I had it sitting right next to me at my desk, I could barely hear it. I had to keep checking my phone to see if I missed a call.

As far as ringers for text for contacts, I did have that on my LG 8100, but I guess the new Chocolate doesn't have that either. At least I couldn't find a way of doing it yet.

Did you buy the phone and return it also? Have you had Motos before? My last Moto was the V60 from way back. Since then I've had LGs.

my last phone was the 8100 but only because the motorola 815 would crash 5-10 x a day because the OS could not keep up with me... when doing a text i would move / type so fast the phone would crash... but i do miss my 815...

if they left the motorola interface on the v9m it would rule...

LG seems the best for CDMA, while Motorola kicks for GSM...

I've sold phones for VZW and ATT... so i do know 🙂

whenever I worked at either; that's what i pushed... bad phones = bad customers...

The phone is gorgeous. Wonderful to look at.
And the inside screen is beautiful--maybe the best I've even seen.
But, maybe I just got a bad one, but I cannot hear people as clearly as I did on the Krzr. And they say the phone keeps breaking up on their end. And lots of dropped calls.

So, for now, I give Moto an A+++ for looks,
and F for substance. I'll stick with my Krzr for now.

Perhaps you had a defective phone? I'm guessing you weren't thrilled enough with it to exchange it and give it another try? What did you think of the features otherwise? I just couldn't bring myself to keep it because of the looks only.

I actually really like the other features, and the way it looked. Besides the call dropping, I didn't like the call clarity on either end. I figured that since this phone is so new, best not risk another bad phone. Just like when the original Razr came out, it took a few months to work out lots of the problems. That's the problem with trying to have the latest in technology.

That's true. It's possible they will come out with a software update to fix some of the issues, but I wasn't willing to wait. Plus I doubt that it would fix many of the issues that I had with it anyway. The weight of the phone and the fact that it didn't fit comfortably in my hand were major factors as well. I just didn't think it lived up to the hype, especially because I was so anxious to get it and went to the store early the morning they were available. In the past when I've tried phones, I keep them for 3 or 4 weeks. This was the shortest time ever, just one week.

I decided I must have gotten a bad Razr2, so I exchanged it for a new one. There's a big difference in the performance of the new one. Much better (just about perfect) call clarity and reception, no call dropping, no "breaking-up", and better battery life. So far so good with my replacement Razr2.
I really like the looks, and the beautiful screens, and the mobile mail feature, which works great with AOL and MSN mail. I'll write a review after I've used it a couple of weeks.
