Hey for the people who have this phone! I have a few questions since I should be moving over soon! I wanted to know if you could set MP3s as ringtones? if you can then can you move them to your phone through the memory card and/or bluetooth? I also want to know if the phones slide mechanism has been wearing down? Some seem to wear in pretty fast and get loose! Also is the call volume loud and clear? thanks!!!! 🙂

you can use mp3's as ringtones from either bluetooth or the micro sd. i only used this phone for a weekend and in that short time i noticed that the slide seems kinda unstable and you can hear the springs. i found myself trying not to open it and especially since the keypad is so small!!! but the volume is clear and loud. if you like sony, youll love this phone

I use WavePad to make my mp3 ringtones and then use funformobile.com to send them to my phone. I have read from other people with this phone that AT&T restricted ringtones to be only 30 sec long, but mine haven't been shortened.

My call volume is great, and I can't comment on the springs quite yet cause I just got my phone Saturday.

In addition to other methods already mentioned, you should be able to load ringtones via data cable. You can get software directly from the Sony Ericsson web site.

I have only uploaded a few tones so far, but I have a feeling that the problem some have with using MP3s as ringtones is, they are using MP3 files that are recorded at too high quality. In other words, if you have a MP3 that was recorded in 44000 @ 192Kbps bitrate, it probably isn't going to work as a ringtone. I had that issue with my old Motorola V557.

There are a number of free MP3 tools on the web. I use professional editing software so I can't give any direct links or recommendations for freebies, but they are out there. Most of what I put on my V557 were done at 32kbps...

I forgot to mention the limit for MP3 size. From what I've seen everywhere else, there is a 460-something kb limit (466? Sorry, can't remember) on MP3 ringtones. Even my longest ringtone, which doesn't have time to end before voicemail picks up on a call, doesn't take up nearly that much space.
