Call Quality on 8830??

I've heard in the past that the call quality is not the best on Blackberry devices. I'm assuming in this latest version RIM has worked to fix that issue. Can those that already have the 8830 let me know how the Call Quality has been for them so far?

Similar question, thinking about switching to Verizon from Sprint (live in Central California) and I like the BB for the obvious reasons, however I tried the phone in the store and it had “delays” when calling a local plain old telephone system (POTS) land line. To be sure it wasn't the POTS phone I tried the same test at the store with the available LG8700, LG8600 & Motorola RAZR, which were crystal clear and did not suffer from the same delay as the Blackberry 8830. Not sure if the phone needed a software update or if the unit was there for a reason (broken), but why would you demo an inferior product? Very interested in how everyones BB 8830 is performing in regards to reception or call quality in weak or problematic areas when compared ...

I have the 8830 and one of the latest versions of the RAZR. I have tested them side by side in numerous areas as I travel a fair amount with my profession. Hands down, signal strength and call clarity are better with the 8830. I had numerous places where the call was dropped with the RAZR, immediately called back with the 8830 and had excellent clarity.

The 8830 is my first experience with BB, I am sorry I waited so long. Best business cell phone I have ever owned in 20 years of using them.

I find call quality to be exceptional! easily the equal to my sanyo phones and thats saying a lot.

I also find SINGAL acquisition to be spectacular! in the back room at work even the sanyo can only hold a single if I hold the phone "up" and only on the right side of my head :-) (concrete room) with the 8830 not only can I use it anywhere but I Get 2 bars!

on Rt206 almost all phones drop out a few times (lots of protected land so no towers) the 8830 hands in the WHOLE LENGTH and with good signal. Very impressed with this phone.

Yeah, and has anyone upped from the 8703 yet?

Worth it? I was thinking about doing that.

I've had an 8830 for almost 2 months. In the first 30 days I exchanged my phone for a new one 4 times (I kept my 4th). Though my reason for exchanging was not background noise problems (I'm kind of selfish in that the call quality from my end was good, so I didn't feel like waiting in line at Verizon forever to fix something that wasn't bothering me), on all four phones excessive background noise has been a problem. Please read this thread (hosted on another website) before you get the 8830 if you do a lot of talking (especially to clients) in even moderately crowded places. Good luck!
