The curve is the Blackberry I have been waiting for. I want to keep Verizon though. Does anybody know or can speculate if and when Verizon will have it?

Hard to say. I think a pearl-like device may be first on the vzw network since the 7130 is old now.

I too like the curve. Got the 8703e now and have no real need for the 8830.

I was getting the impression that the 8830 was the "curve". If not what is the difference?

Hey lyn,

The curve is the GSM only phone with 2-megapixel camera, whereas, the 8830 is the GSM/CDMA hybrid version of At&t's 8800.

The Curve probably won't be available for Verizon for a while. RIM usually gives the GSM carriers first shot then CDMA & vice versa with the Treos.

Not sure why everyone seems to want the Curve over the 8830. The Curve is simply a Pearl with a QWERTY. It is basically the SAME SIZE as the current 8800 and the soon-to-be-released 8830. Except for wanting a camera, what does the 8830 LACK? I am a devoted gotta-have-the-newest-phone person....and when things come out I create mock-up based on the reported dimensions.

Trust me....except for the camera, and about 5mm......the Curve IS the 8830. SAME thickness, SAMES width, 5mm shorter. Nothing to write home about.

Having said that, I doubt VZW will be in a hurry to pick up the Curve (or push for a CDMA version) since it competes directly with the 8830 (except for price point....but I never compare price points because, well....I j...

Are you sure? This is when the 8830 has been announced for Verizon not the curve, they have not added a CDMA version of the phone yet, although RIM says they can do this in a very short period of time. Wonder if Verizon gets it, will they add GSM so it can be used in Europe? This is a big plus for some.
