Battery Life

Interesting, I just compared the 8800 cingular version and the battery life is much longer on the 8800. Don't know why this is so, thought they were the basically the same phone? Of course Verizon will criple some of the software features, but battery life?

Not at all, I have never been with any other cell company, just was curious - although I must admit the curve looks interesting (but I don't need the camera), but I love the fact that I can use the 8830 here and in Europe - and still have Verizon which I think has the best coverage of any cell company in most areas.

CDMA technology is fundamentally different than GSM, including power consumption.

I just added GSM battery life info for this phone. That should help explain the difference.

Can you help me understand the difference between CDMA and GSM. I do travel in Europe. On another site there is a note that the phone can "switch" from one mode to the other. Is this possible?
