Verizon 8830 does not work in Puerto Rico!!

I went to a conference last week in Puerto Rico, and as soon as I got off the plane, I got a "device error :348" message. Try as I might, it would not work. When I called Verizon from a land line, I was told that there is a software error in the phone, and that it does NOT work in Puerto Rico. There were 4 other people at the conference with the same phone and the same problem!!!

World phone??!!

To make matters worse, I asked them if I could buy a phone and have it fed ex'd to me so I would at least be able to make/get calls. They would not ship to Puerto Rico.

I wound up buying an ATT prepaid phone at the local Radio Shack.

When I landed in Houston on the way home, the phone started working fine.

Sprint has home service area coverage in PR. Not 100% on the BB, but I have coleagues who use phone, web, aircard all seamlessly. Just fyi

I just arrived in Grand Cayman with my brand new Blackberry 8830 "WORLD EDITION" and does my phone work? I'm getting the same irritating "Device Error: 348". Wow, so glad I got the fancy World Edition phone from Verizon! Pathetic!
