Does anyone know if the 8830 will support MMS messages?

I don't believe the verizon version will support the MMS messaging, but you have two options:

1. check for the mms message on verizon's website, or 2. have the person send the message directly to your email address.

Hmm, I'm not sure of that. Sorry. It's a possibility. Maybe you have to set it up first?

Idk a rep told me that because my 8703 didn't have pic/MMS capabilities, I got an email/txt to my phone saying I had a pix msg.

Try sending one to your phone and then logging in on vzwpix.com.

I think to send it to your phone it's yournumber@vzwpix.com.

I don't have the phone so I hate to argue with you but the phone's manual says it has MMS capabilites. See: http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpubl ic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/8067/645045/8533/1 360749/1360785/BlackBerry_8830_World_Edition_ Smartphone_-_User_Guide.pdf?nodeid=1360681&ve rnum=0

pg 79

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I really hope it does have MMS because I'd like the phone but the combo of no camera and no MMS would be a deal-breaker

Keep in mind, that is the offical Blackberry 8830 manual. VZW probably crippled this feature as they do with every phone. If it's in the manual, I'm sure the Sprint version will have this feature. 😳

why would VZB cripple MMS? Thats a big money maker for them.

VZW is rolling the dice that hopefully someone doesn't have the unlimited bb data plan. They are forcing you to goto the vzwpix.com to look at a picture that was sent to you. If you goto the website from your phone, you will be using your data up unless you have unlimited. If you don't have unlimited, the data charges can be expensive if you go over your allotment.

I have the VZW BB 8703e (for the moment) and my wife has the Cingular BB Pearl. Her picture text messages comes directly to the phone. MMS is a listed feature for the Pearl just as it is for the BB 8703e. I have to goto the VZW website to view my pictures. 😳

Thats a deal breaker for me. I have the 700p and although I really like it, I'm fed up with the crashing and freezing after a text message. I came to terms with no camera (although it really bothered me) but the combo of no camera and no mms = no 8830 for me....

You are right. You can't get pictures via MMS thru VZW BB phones. My friend has a Cingular 8800. On that phone, you can get it directly thru MMS and also on the Pearl. I guess this is another option VZW has crippled. 👿

You guys realize that you can circumvent all the speculation and just have the sender send your picture message to the address that is set up on the BB device, right? I mean, who cares if it has MMS? You still get the picture message in your message list, just as you would if it were coming via MMS, and on top of that, you get a copy to your e-mail inbox on your desktop. Some people make a monutain out of a molehill like no other.
