No Data Charge ?

Is there any one out there who wants a PDA phone (Palm) without paying for data charges. I know there is a market out there for people like me, but it seems all of the providers require data service $$.

I recently spoke to a Verizon Corporate Rep who said they get that question all the time. Most people are in need of Phone,contacts and calendar....

Any help out there for a phone and service that would provide a good PDA calendar without paying for Data ?

One person told me I could cancel the Data service after a month of service. They thought the contract would be ok with cancelling the Data charges.

A couple times I had Verizon disable National Access (1xrtt) on my Treo 650. This uses 0 data when you do this, and there's no way to get accidentally charged if the treo tries to "phone home" but I found that the downside to doing this was that text messages would take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to go through. and my voicemail indicator would get stuck on, without any ability to clear it. After I figured this out, I went back to unlimited data but to afford it I had to cancel my broadband internet at home. Now my treo 650 is my only way of getting online at home with my Mac Mini. It's somewhat slow so I am eagerly awaiting the 755p so I can get faster speed. I know that I could get the 700p but both my friend and mother have one and I...
