I just got another T62U from Cingular under the 1 year phone warranty. My first phone lasted all of 2 weeks, It replacement lasted almost a year. I was able to put the *777* into my 2nd phone but like your new one, the phone would not take the code. I called sony and they gave me a code which will open up the network part of the setting tab. I don't know if it totally unlocks the phone, but I now have protocol stack and was able to put in the *777* code. Let me know if you want the code.
