So, since I cannot edit my review on this phone which I apparently did too early, here's an update; adjust the review stars accordingly, my original one was a 3.5, now it's a 1 star (I give it one star cause it does make calls sometimes).

my gripes:

The 3 major problems I have with the xv6800 are:

DIALING! the soft dial keys are absurdly slow to respond... I find myself using the back space button more than any other because the damn thing doesn't register a number pushed and further doesn't display that problem for a second or two when it happens - pain in the butt. As for the hard keys, slide it out...wait, wait, wait, wait, wait...oh now you can dial, then deal with the slow to respond thing some more.

The slider...It's just ...

well duh, you have too many running programs in the back. Its simple, just stop all the programs in the back and your good! its still sometimes slow to respond, i just silent the phone so it doesnt make those annoying keypad tones. I put it on silent and it dials out much faster!

My phone does the same thing and I am starting to grow tired of it. Yes, you have to shut down all the running programs to make it operate quickly, but after closing out a screen it should also stop the program. I should not have to go to a separate program to stop the program I just closed. Also, I just purchased a Parrot minkit to have hands free in the car. After numerous attempts to get it working correctly I find out the the phone has bluetooth problems as well.

Well just download the Touch X button. One button stops it once and for all until you open that app again, right from the home screen! 😉

Which Parrot kit and what were the problems? I had been looking at the Parrot kits, specifically the 3400 LS with GPS. I just looked and I did not see it any more on their site.

What BT problems did you have?

I have a Minikit because I wanted hands free for the car. I'm having connection problems, dropped words, does not always transfer to the Minikit. I emailed Parrot about the concern and they basically said it's a known problem and they are working with HTC to fix it.

Cool. Thank you for the reply.

Damn HTC phone! I have the XV6800 and it has some really annoying problems, such as BT not working with Voice Command, and my pesky notifications of every new email in spite of having the boxes unchecked.

Maybe the new firmware will help, but that might be in 2011 the way VZW does it!

I spoke to someone at VZW the other day. There does not seem to be anything in the pipeline for these issues. Go figure!

Somewhere on these forums I saw a post regarding a new ROM in April. Probably just wishful thinking.

I may have to look at 3rd-party stuff.
