Is anyone else having horrible battery life with their new 6800? I have tried all things that I know to stop battery run-off but none have helped. I slowed wireless sync to only check once an hour. turned off the wi-fi compeltely and its still horrible.

I havent even really used the phone today at all and I still am totally out of battery 10 hours later...

HELP!!

My battery life is about a day+ using direct push instead of having the phone poll for email. But it depends on how many emails you get in a day as to which is better. Also, be sure to turn off the WiFi and just use EVDO for better battery life.

Overall on this and most PDA phones the battery life of the standard battery is not impressive. I do have an extended battery, but haven't tried it yet. Generally, I throw the phone on the charger to and from work, so we'll see how that works over time. Not the best thing for battery longevity, but good for having a phone that's charged when you need it.

Thanks for the reply. I had the 750 before this and it worked twice as well as this one has thus far. I take it off the charger at 6:30AM and by 4PM its toast. I do not use the wifi and i have it check emails only when I tell it to. I bet that i have used the phone feature less than 60 mins all week too. Its absolutely horrible - anything else you can think of? Should the treo be that much better than this phone? Sure not what I was expecting... thanks.

be honest man I think you have a defective battery, cuz I just got this phone and charged it up and have been doing nothing but surfing the net changing settings, adding all my contacts and talking on it a lot installing programs, and being doing this for like 12 hours today...its my first pda phone so it's a lot of getting use to for me...and i still have like 60% battery left

I use to sell phones and occasionally there is just a bad one in the bunch, I'd try and get Verizon/sprint, whoever you have, to swap it for ya

I got my phone is August and batt life has been ok, and perhaps a little better than my 6700 it replaced. BUT in the past 3 weeks batt life has dropped off like a rock. Maybe 12 hrs total time with little web surfing, no BT, no WI-FI and only 6-10 calls totaling about an hr.... I am also in a good coverage area (no poor signal probs)

I have also noticed getting text messages when the phone is on vibrate only and the phone will vibrate non-stop until a hard reset. Anyone else?

Overall this is hands down a better phone than 6700, but the more I use it the more the quirks begin to surface.

I just purchased a 6800 about 4 days ago and was having big issues with battery life only lasting 5-8 hours. I shut down all the blue tooth, WiFi and other options and it was still at 50% after about 3-4 hours. I went back to the store that I bought the phone at and exchanged the battery, but had the same results and was wondering what was up with it having such a short battery life. I was about to give up and just accept the having to charge it twice a day, but found a thread on another site that said to shut the phone all the way off and then let it charge all the way. I tried it and it worked! I'm now over 30 hours after the charge and still at 50% battery life. I've had Bluetooth on for the majority of today and have had the WiFi g...

Yup, I had to do the same thing. depending on usage I can get 2-3 days out of a charge. I still plug it in every night, though.

Yep, battery life sucks. I guess I'll get an extended life battery. Other than the speaker is not very loud, i love the phone.

I found my battery will last 2 days, but if Bluetooth is turned on, it's less than 12 hours. Never seen a phone that drains so fast because of bluetooth, but I guess this one does.

I have yet to see a smartphone that doesn't drain that fast (in fact, I'd be REALLY happy with 12 hours!) but then thats probably my useage which is extremely heavy; text, data, web, push, voice...I don't think my phone even goes literally 10-15 minutes in a given day without some use.

I've had the phone for a week now and battery life is not great but it's about what I expected...I have to fully charge it halfway through the day to get to the end of the day with it. I am however an extremely heavy user, no need for wifi so that's disabled, but I do use bluetooth, iR and "push" and I also heavily use the data connection for email & web in addition to 2000+ minutes a month in voice and 200+ text message per month.

I set the screen brightness so low it's barely visible on a bright day, but still same thing.

This is however in my experience having used smartphones for years and having owned a LOT of different ones including BB's (wanna be smartphones), this is par for the course with smartphones. This one is a little ...

Same here. Coming from a Treo 700p. I did a retail search for a cradle with a extra battery compartment and came up with nada. I found one seller on Ebay that sells one for about $30. Will post back when I get it and give evaluation.

My phome now seems to have OK battery life. For a while I thought I would have to full time car charge, or get one of those GIANT batteries.

I tried two things at once (I know, never throw to variables at a problem).
1. I tried a simple item that usually helps with the MS OS. I purposely drained the battery and full charged. This help calibrate the built-in scale.
2. I did a soft reset. Then made sure my critical apps were OK.

The unit hasn't gone below 80% in a workday even with 50% Bluetooth usage.
I have to admit I'm not a 'power user'; just business phone and Verizon's web synchronization program running.

If I have to do this once a month, it will be worth it.
