Ok, I would be fooling to switch from Sprint because my grandfather'd plan with free 2nd line and free internet and free nights & weekends and free unlimited texting and free unlimited picture mail and free unlimited mobile to mobile and free PCS to PCS with a corporate employer discount ~AND~ a retention discount could never be matched by any other provider... BUT Sprint's phones SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK!!

Well, that's helpful. I guess I'm just sitting here thinking about what Sprint doesn't have. We don't have the Nokia N95 with the 5MP, but neither does any other US carrier. Verizon has a phone with a 3MP, but only one. The have a few with DMB for TV, but not the same as their 3MP phone. They have some with qwerty keyboards, but again none with TV or the 3MP shooter.

I think Sprint is on pretty equal grounds with phones unless you start talking unlocked GSM phones, and officially nobody has those here.

So I guess I am still wondering what exactly Sprint doesn't offer that these other carriers do that you would jump ship for if you could keep your $5/month plan with unlimited everything?

I haven't yet decided (or seen anything to make me decide) that I need or want a phone with TV or MP camera. What I do want is phone that is light and small enough that it doesn't bother me in my pocket. I admit that many phones on the market are great, but for me they are all to big or heavy for pocket use, and I don't care for wearing my phone on my belt.

Regarding PDA phones, my personal preference from a syncing standpoint is a Palm OS phone. Limited browsing is ok, but I desire a fully integrated media player so I can listen online to Sirius and/or XM. I also like listening to my favorite Orlando radio station online, which typically puts me into a Windows OS requirement.

But I was spoiled for many years using the Samsung i500 an...

Well I kinda feel your pain, but.. If you want a PDA you kinda have to accept the size. I've been considering the Treo 755p because it is actually quite small in comparison to most.

As for a small phone, Spint has offered both the SLVR and the Upstage and you don't get much smaller than that.

I really think though that you have to make a decision, it is either a small phone or a PDA phone. Otherwise you can look at the Nokia N95 which isn't tiny and it isn't a PDA but it is a good in between.

When you you say that Sprint is years behind the other carriers on phones and tech. it just leaves me a little confused.

After all, if you look back, Sprint had the first color screen, camera, video, mp3, fully 3G, EVDO phones. And that is just what I can think of off the top of my head. Plus dispite the oppinion that Sprint relies on thick bulky phones they offer the thinest phone on the market (Samsung 610).

What more do you want?

Dude, shut up and buy a mogul (PPC6800) It rocks, you can stream any live music (xm, sirius, and radio station) Windows media player rocks. I watch movies all the time on mine. you get the sprint music store and can steam live video from sprint tv. it has a 2 mp camera +video... wifi, stereo bluetooth. And a ton more crap.

HEHE My dream phone is a sanyo 8400 in candy bar formfactor. Change no features or specs. same screen camera everything. JUST put it in a candy bar form factor (thin) wide and long is ok as long as its thin. Thats it. I would be endlessly happy :-) think Sanyo 6200 (my first phone and kept it for 6 years before upgrading) but with a nice 320x240 color screen and 1.3mp camera WITH macro switch and LED

Heaven. If only they would do it. I could even live with the upstage if they upped the screen to 320x240 and had a replaceable battery.
