Microphone is always on!

It's been only one day since I had this phone, but I am having trouble with this particular problem which seems to be happening on my wife's phone as well. (she also has w385)

When I speak to someone on this phone, I can hear my voice through the ear piece! At first, I thought it was the problem with the network, but it wasn't.

When the phone is off, and when I press any button, I can hear my voice through the ear piece for about 4 to 5 seconds. Once the back light is turned off, it seems that the microphone turns off and everything becomes normal.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? It's VERY annoying and I might have to return this problem.

Thanks.

THis is JUST like a regular phone, as it's called sidetone. One of the big benefits of Motorola phones- you can hear how you sound JUST LIKE ON A LANDLINE. I don't know about when you are not in a call, but during a call you can tell that you are on a call, not just talking into a dead box.
If wind noise is a problem, you can hear it.
This is just like full-duplex two way radios. You can hear how you sound, and if you get disconnected, you'll know it. You never get stuck talking into dead air, you can tell if you aren't speaking loud enough, etc.
