Battery life

Has anyone else had battery life issues. After my first charge my phone life lasted for about 3 days with maybe 1 hour of talk time. Since then I can't get a charge to last more than one day even if I don't talk on it.

I had this happen to me twice. But it has since worked fine. From what I heard, there is a bug in the software where the internal screen doesn't turn off when closed. I would try charging it over nite to make sure it has a complete charge as well as power cycling it from time to time.

I power cycle my phone everyday just because I play alot of games on it (Pool & Mini-Golf & Tiger Golf).

I turn it off just about every night as I don't get good reception at my house. If its a software glitch anyone know if there is a fix in the works? I "fully" charged it last night about 8 hours plugged in, when I turned it on it was already down one bar of power. Is this the same type of thing that was happening to you?

As soon as you get a problem like that call tech support. If you have Verizon, you go to a Verizon Wireless store with a tech support desk.

You have to condition a new motorola battery ( page 3 of the mannual ) The only problems I have read about this phone here or on cnet is battery life. I have had my w385 for 6 months a nd get 2weeks with moderate use. Now to condition a new motorola battery 1 run battery down all the way 2 charge overnight you can not overcharge a motorola battery. 3 run all the way down again do this 3 times and you should be fine. If you havent done this and are having problems dont do it with the current battery get a new one and start the procedure from the start.

I had the similar problem when I got this phone. I was about to return it back due to same battery reason. Before that I thougt of trying an old trick which made E815 battery last longer.

Even though this phone is not EVDO, somehow it still eats battery when this phone is in fringe network coverage area. It definitely sounds like software issue. As a chance, I made the HDR Pref - CDMA. Somehow, that worked like a charm. No more battery issues. To make this change, you need to go in the test mode of the phone and one mistake there can lead your phone useless - do this at your own risk. So be very careful!!

Steps

1) Press #073887*
2) Key in 000000 -> OK
3) Scroll down to test mode, hit select
4) Select Enabled
5) Select Exit
6) P...

This seems ridiculous to just get the battery to last as it is suppose to. I live in an area that has limited service, but my old lg never had this problem.

I agree that that is a bit much. I am having great battery life and I live in a area that has spotty service...you might want to go back to the Verizon store and switch batteries.

I've been through 3 batteries at this point, I am switching out the phone. I think it must be a software issue or something?

I just upgraded to this phone and have replaced it twice because of the battery life. I keep the phone on 12 hours and make about 5 minutes of phone calls and receive and send 5-7 texts. This is too much for the batter. I just got my 2nd replacement and so far it's just as bad. I'll try letting it completely lose power, then fully charge it.

I charge mine once every 10 days, I don't talk much on it but it's on 4-5 hours every day through the week & 8-12 hours on weekends, I probably have around 1 1/2 hour of talk time a week.

I do let it get down to one bar before chargeing it & charge it over night.

Haven't had a problem with mine so far. I got it Friday and it had two battery bars so I played with it until it died and then gave it a full charge. It's been about two days since I charged it and it's only used 1 out of 4 bars so far.

My wife and I got this phone free a month ago when we extended our contract. We both started out with a week's battery life with moderate use. Then mine dropped to less than a day. I went back to the store and the guy immediately swapped the battery for me free. He asked if I had conditioned the first one and I said no, the salesperson said just use it. I even asked when I first got it if I needed to do anything and he said no. So the tech guy said turn it off and charge it fully the first time because charging while it is turned on generates too much heat for the conditioning phase and ruins the calibration. Not sure if I buy that, but I did it and so far so good after a day.
