"My Name is SKid..... and I Suck!"

Way to make an already mediocre product suck even harder. Way to go Danger/T-mobile.

This phone is not supposed to be feature rich. Its made for people that really want a sidekick but cant spend $300-400 for an SK3. People that buy this phone our prolly most likely willing to give up a few features to get this phone.

Its a great thing t-mobile and a really smart marketing move!

This is for younger crowd who can care less about camera or bluetooth, but cannot live without texting/aim/myspace etc. SO for them its like a dream come true.

Bluetooth, EDGE... sure.

...but a camera? I sincerely wish T-Mobile luck with this product, but I don't know any young person who wouldn't be completely turned off by the complete lack of a camera. When every other (cheaper) phone has some kind of camera, and it's such a fun feature - even more so the younger the kid - that could be a show-stopper for this product.

the lure of the sidekick, might be stronger, than the camera. I'm only 25, and I have had a cell phone since I was 15. I have maaaaaybe taken 75 camera pictures...if that. with the explosion of small digi cams and picture sharing websites like facebook/myspace/snapfish, etc. The need to have a camera on your phone could easily be overcome. Especially if everyone of your other friends has one.

Yeah, a camera would have been nice, but if it would have taken the price point over $99, I dont think it would have been worth it. If you want a camera, save some extra cash and get an sk3 (which is prolly why they left the camera off)

But only time will tell!

i definitely agree... i'm currently a sales rep for T-mobile and i personally see how much more lure a Sidekick is than a camera phone. I personally am very exicted for the release of this product because i know it will sell very well.

Rich, didn't someone already suggest that these are for the low end/ deaf customers that don't want all that crazyness, just the "peace of mind" of having a hot device? This seems right up that ally...

I agree with you on the camera Rich. I noticed the phone will have "My Faves"...don't you need a camera to attach a photo with your Fave? I'm sure they have some sort of simulated pics...but come on! I don't think they thought that one through! 🤨

Actually, there's a tool on MyT-Mobile where you can make your own MyFaves icon with photos on your computer and then send it to your phone. It's a lot easier than cropping the photo on your phone.

t-mobile has recently activated a new free feature on myt-mobile that allows you to make a myfaves icon from text, make a cartoon, or use any photo you have on your computer; however you have always been able to make an icon from any photo you have on your phone, and the sidekick id can recieve and send picture messages even though it can not take photos.

i have no idea how egde, 3g, and internet stuff works on phones but if it doesn't have egde does that mean the phone will have really slow internet?

It will be slower, yes.

GPRS is 1/2 - 1/3 the speed of EDGE.

I as a 15 yo texter dont care much about EDGE and most ppl that buy this wont but the lack of a camera really turns me off. I understand that they wanted to make a cheaper alternative but at a 300$ MSRP it is not so cheap afterall. But a VGA camera would have gave this phone much better sales

you people are retarded. This is a basic Sidekick for a reason. If you want all the fun stuff that Sidekicks are known for then get a Sk3. The Sidekick ID is for people in general not just kids. It is also a great phone for the hearing impaired. It's half the price of the Sk3. Not everyone wants a mp3 player and camera. some just want the full keyboard and the look of a Sidekick. Let alone for $20 you get unlimited messaging, email, and web. If you buy any normal flip phone the SK ID will still have faster internet speeds. T-mobile even advertises it as a style phone.
