3G iPhone coming in late May

This is probably one of the more played out questions on iPhone's phonescoop forum, but...

An industry source from the financial sector of NY's stock market informed me that the 3G iPhone was coming in late May/early June, consistent with late last year's reports from Apple itself. The web is strangely quiet on this matter. He is a reliable source and a current iPhone user - but can anyone advise if this is remotely possible and likely? It seems that this is a deciding factor for many.

sure it's possible. This is apple we're talking about. Plus, the beans were spilt on a 3G iPhone coming out this year. Whether or not it will be iPhone 2 or just iPhone with 3G we don't know.

Steve has a fond way of springing new and better on people asap.

The web isn't "quiet" about this. It's all over. You just have to know where to look.

do you care about 3G? that's the question.

Do you also care about iPhone capacity? I'm guessing the 3G will also have 32 gigs.

3G 3G 3G, thats all everyone is talking about.
If these rumors are true, and assuming the 3G iphone is version #2 what kind of battery life are we looking at?
I for one would love more battery life as I am charging my iphone twice a day with all the web browsing, video podcasts and movie watching.
And further more what other improvements or upgrades are we looking at?
32 GB,FM radio, TV, GPS, MMS, landscape keyboard in all apps?
These things would be nice, wouldn't you agree?

Although my initial question was mainly posed around the technology jump to 3G and I know that it's a battery killer, I think other updates including 32 GB is equally important. iPhone is the only true internet phone out there. If you I'm going to be internet browsing, I don't want to waste time on a slower network. I live and work in the Long Island and NYC area and have been advised by other users that their 3G is satisfactory in these areas. I guess if you live in the boonies, 3G is not a priority. But the i2 better have some other major advancements if they are waiting this long to unveil the second gen. It seems that what Apple would really like out of it's consumers is PATIENCE!!

Anyone have any thoughts on the pricing of the 3G iPhone? Even with an expected doubling of the capacity to 32gb, are we looking at a jump from 399/499 to 599/699?

I wonder if Steve would dare test his customer base with another initial rollout at one price with a drop soon after. :-)

Thanks!
Gary

There's no doubt that the price would jump at least 100 with a capacity of 32 gb and with such upgrades as 3g. I would be VERY surprised to see anything below 50 bucks.

Also, it's all over the net that everyone is running low on Iphones and some are even out of stock, not planning to have anymore in until late may. How obvious, surely they wouldn't be planning to release another 10 million "iphones" to the public.
