Raw speed vs software intelligence

Like many of you, I was bummed that the initial iPhone won't be 3G.

(and despite my screen name, I see Apple's warts as well as their good points.)

What I suspect will help things a lot is OS X's incredible multitasking ability.

I bet you'll be able to set up iPhone to load / refresh a half dozen of your favorite web pages in the background as you're texting, calling, listening to music.

Kind of like the always-on aspect of the Sidekick.

It's kind of like the Tortoise and the Hare.

Constantly streaming 2.5G data could result in a user experience very nearly as good as off-and-on 3G data.

I hate every smartphone that has to tell me with some stupid screen it's logging into some network and all that crap. Shut up and just...
