Obviously it is too late to help this user since is post was over a year ago, but his final post identifies exactly the problem that he had.
The software can only sync with ONE Outlook profile. The fact that it would sync with his laptop IS why it wouldn't sync with outlook on his desktop.
The solution would have been to uninstall and reinstall ActiveSync and be sure to sync the phone with Outlook on the desktop NOT on the laptop.
