Battery not holding charge

arouth

Had an 8700 for a few months. Recently got a car with bluetooth, and now the battery is not holding it's charge.

I know that bluetooth drains the battery, but this is pretty severe. At first when I turned on the bluetooth I had to charge every other night. Now it is like 12 hours before the battery dies. This morning I charged it back up for an hour and about 4 hours later it was dead again.

Any ideas? Bad phone or bad battery? I have the total equipment coverage, so I'm pretty sure I can get it fixed.

I also had problems with the short battery life. I finally bought the extended battery, and it's great! The charge lasts a lot longer (weeks instead of days). It's really worth it - the standard battery has the shortest life I've ever seen in a phone.

Where do you get the battery?

How much?

Is it much bigger than the standard battery?

I got it from the Verizon online store. The battery is a little thicker, and you can't use the stainless steel back. But it still fits in the standard leather case I got from Verizon. I never notice the difference in size using it daily. Well worth the cost.

You know for the price of that one battery you could probably buy 3 or 4 on eBay. I buy batteries for each of my phones usually they cost about $3, then just swap them out when needed. I have one for home, car, and the office. whenever I know I won't be using my phone. I just charge one of the batteries on hand that way you'll always have a ready to use fully charged battery. I have found great deals, you can get an extra battery, car charger, home charger, and data cable all for $10-$20.
