Just saw the LG rep at my Verizon store. The 8700-II will be the upgrade. Touch music controls on front display which will be horizontal position, not vertical. 4MP camera and greatly increased memory, not sure how much. Phone will be made of some sort of composite plastic, super strong and will not get hot. Speaker phone able to be activated whether on call or not. Due out sometime in October.

The LG VX-8700 II sounds like it will be a pretty cool phone, from your description of it. It's nice that they are doing the heavy duty plastic. I have the 8700. I love the phone, but yes, it does get very warm when in use, and it doesn't take long for it to get that way. Never had a problem with it getting too hot, thank God, but the upgrade to the 8700 sounds awesome. I will definitely check it out come October. Thanks for writing and letting us know! ๐

All this sounds fine, BUT if true they should have incorporated this into the 8700 from the very start. Is this the way LG fixes mistakes?
We needed a software upgrade to the 8700 before it was even released. I hope this is another hoax because if it isn't the whole LG image is tainted to me. This LG VX-8700 was my first introduction to LG phones from the Audiovox CDM-9500 and CDM-9900. Those were great phones in their day and there were no software glitches. The owner's manuals were well written too. The launch of this LG VX-9700 has been unimpressive to me and I will watch with great caution before purchasing another LG if they don't come thru and clean up the problems with the 8700. A LG VX-8700II doesn't cut it with me.

If thet's true, guess we won't see much in a software update on the 8700.

You are probably right about not seeing to much software chane in the 8700, if indeed there will be an 8700 II. As soon as they came out with the 8700, and I suppose it's normal, they already start working on an upgraded model. I own the 8700, and I really do like it. Wish the ringers were alot louder, wish it didn't scratch so easy, but overall, the phone is beautiful, has a great screen. Sharp pictures, easy keypad, also the battery could be somewhat longer lasting. I'm keeping my eyes open for upcoming new models, and to see if this one will exist. I love new technology, can you tell? I'm always looking to see what's new in cell phones, home phones, etc. The world of technology is so fascinating, yet so complex. ๐

I think much of the reason for low ringers is an internal speaker. The voice dialing is nowhere as good as my 8100. I am using the HBM-730 and if you don't talk in a very low voice, it misses. I just ordered the Jawbone. I tried it once before with a Nokia N75. Bluetooth kept shorting out phone, so I dumped it. Voice dialing on the Nokia was horrible, got nothing right. Really would have liked the slider but settled for the 8700. Love the iPhone but not @ $500.

You are probably right about the low ringers, and the fact of it being an internal speaker. I guess I have to get used to how th iphone looks. It's ok, but you are right. Is it really worth $500.00? That's alot of money for a phone, which I'm sure will have many, many bugs considering it's supposed to do so much. This will be interesting to see how this one plays out. I mean exactly how many people will be dissappointed for the fact of it maybe not being as great as everyone is saying it will be We shall see. I mean it looks pretty cool. Whole new technology on this one! ๐คจ

I don't think there will be too many bugs, its not VZW. Apple has been working on this for at least 2 years. If they're as good with their phone as their Mac's, you can count on a great phone. They already have all the experience with the Mac & iPod, it shouldn't take much to transfer to a phone. Remember, Apple technology is brilliant and a lot more stable than Windows. Believe me, I use both.
...
I would have to agree with you there. I quess I didn't think about the fact it is by Apple. You are right about VZW phones, those are the one's that really ahve the bugs and need improvement. So this one probably will be a winner. It will still be interesting to see. So much money for a phone, though. But again, I do have to agree with everything you said. Have a great say! ๐

Sorry about the misspelled words. I meant, Have a great day! I tend ti type too fast and not pay attention. ๐คญ

I call BS on this also.
...
Why would you call BS on this one (heavy sarcasm)? After all, there have been so many phones that had the same model number followed by a II... not!!
Actually, I'm interested in the LG 87,000,000 - I hear it plugs directly into your brain and displays on the backs of your eyes ๐ . Oh yeah, and it will be coming out next week.
I guess people get a kick out of spreading BS.
...
Agreed!
It must be what some people do when they are 12 years old I guess......lol
...
The real proof that this is a hoax is that Verizon employees never seem to know about the release of a new phone until they unpack it and put it on display!
