8700 w/ Garmin Nuvi 360 GPS - Bluetooth Issues

I just received a gift of a Garmin Nuvi 360 GPS unit for my car. I have a VX-8700. The phone isn't listed on the list of compatible phones, but the 8600 is. I'm able to establish a bluetooth connection briefly, but then it quits and hangs. Does anyone have any information about using this phone with Garmin Nuvi units?

Thanks. Andy

I have the Garmin 360 and it works great plus I am able to establish and hold a bluetooth connection.
Also, once there is a connection, it automatically downloads (or whatever you call it) all of the contacts on your cellphone (VX8700).

Be sure that on the Garmin that Bluetooth is enabled and that the cellphone - under bluetooth menu that "NUVI # OF GARMIN) is shown.

When this is true, there will be a phone shown on the main menu of the Garmin.

Let me know how you make out.

Victor thanks for the reply. Are you saying you have an 8700 and it works with the 360?

I've gotten the 360 to make an initial connection with the 8700, but within about 10 or 20 seconds, the connection is lost, and there's no way to re-pair the two withour turning the 8700 completely off and on again. I've attempted to start the process of pulling over the contacts, but it never happens and again the connection automatically severs. Yes, I see the phone icon on the 360, but that disappears after the connection is lost.

If you have an 8700 working with the 360, I'd love to know the various versions of software/firmware you have on the phone and on the 360. I ran an update on the 360, so I'm sure the bluetooth software on that is up to ...

I just received a Garmin nuvi 760 as a gift and I cannot sync my LG 8700 cell. Some of the phone book comes up but with "unknown" as the names.. Both units recognize each other.AND it screws up my cell phone. The support people at Garmin told me the 8700 is not on the list but the discontinued 8600 is, and they have no plan to put the 8700 on their list... Anybody have any ideas?,,I see that Victor425 had no issues with his 360 and 8700. Hope to hear from someone. Thanks..

The phone I have is silver and is LG VX8700. I believe that is what you have. Email me at vadelstein7@hotmail.com so that we can discuss.

I have free long distance so if you give me your phone number, I will call you - let me know when is convenient for me to call.

The first suggest would be to unpair the 2 units and then again pair them together.

Dear Victor: Mine is a Nuvi 760 and it is giving me all sorts of problems. Especially when Garmin tells me it does not support the 8700.I'll e-mail you if you think you can help and maybe you can walk me through the problem. Thanks so much for your reply.
