backlight settings

Can anyone confirm that the backlight setting for the keypad does not function properly. Whatever is set for the main display backlight seems to override whatever is set for the keypad backlight. For example, set main display backlight to 7 seconds, set keypad backlight to "always on". Both display and keypad backlights go off after 7 seconds.

Yes, you are right. The main display back light setting overrides the keypad setting on my phone too. Much be a software thing.

Verizon says all of their phones exhibit the same problem so a swap is not the answer. They say contact LG. Unfortunately, LG claims not to be aware of any such problem - they want me to send the phone in so they can look at - takes about 3 weeks! Why do they need my phone - according to Verizon all 8700s exhibit this problem. Do you know anyone who wants to give up a new phone for 3 weeks? Wouldn't you think that when you call LG customer service they would be able to put their hands on one of these phones while they have you on the line and if it is a software problem they should be able to offer a fix that did not entail having to send the phone in. They essentially said that they won't do anything until they are deluged with people comp...
