Isn't the verticle external display hard to read?

I'm thinking of buying this phone, and I'm seeing most give it a pretty good review. However, no one mentions anything about the external display being the horizontal format, isn't that weird and hard to read?

Do you really have to turn the phone sideways to see what time it is, or to see who's calling?

Those of you that have this phone, what are your thoughts on this?

My thoughts : Its my one gripe with the phone at this point, but not really a deal breaker. I don't wear a watch so I rely on my phone for the time. With my old phone I could flip the top up while it was on its belt clip at my waist and read the time upside down on the front display. With this new phone, if you flip the top open the front display loses the time completely ! I am starting to get used to a)hitting a side button to light up the display and learning to read sideways, or b)flipping the top and letting it go back which lights the display like hitting a button (this one's more of a habit than being easier than hitting a side button)
