LG VX8700 price with a 1 year contract?

arouth

I'm eligible for an upgrade and I just want to do a 1 year contract. I checked the pricing and it is 179 with a 2 year contract and a whopping 279 with a 1 year contract. There are no rebates with a 1 year. Is that typically the case? Do you think they will lower the price anytime soon?

If they don't I'll probably just stick with my trusty vx8300.

Oh, and just a random question. I bought a desktop charger off ebay for the 8300. Will it work the the 8700?

Thanks

Honestly whoever told you that is telling you a whole bunch of crap. If you buy this phone from verizon and it is listed at for 2yr at $179.99, then the price for 1yr is only $50 more, not $100. And both 1yr & 2yr includes rebates. the only two options that dont't have rebates are Full Retail and InPulse.

Now if you are not buying directly from Verizon (Communication stores or VZW online) then that's a whole different story. Resellers/Agents can sell for whatever prices they want.

**No charget for 8300 will not work on the 8700**

Hope this helps..

I believe the reason that there's a $100 difference (or at least this is what I was told over the phone when talking to an online rep) is that the $50 rebate applies only to 2-year contracts. That adds another $50 onto the 1-year contract price. I think I'll call again, though, and see if another rep will give me the rebate on a 1-year contract.

I am 110% percent sure that rebates apply to both 1yr & 2yr contract. The person you are talking to is either ripping you off or they have no idea what they are doing.

Only other thing I can think of that will affect how much you pay is your new every two. You can only use that on a new 2yr contract. So if u were quoted New every 2 the first time and then asked for 1yr, then your price will change by $50 + New every 2. But as I stated before you are still entitled to your $50 rebate.

Ex 1. New every 2 = $50.
Phone = 179.99 (before rebate)
You pay $179.99 *minus* new every 2 ($50.00), then you get $50 rebate in mail.= $79.99 After rebate.

Ex 2. New every 2 = $50., can't be used on 1yr pricing.
Phone = 229.99 (notice $50 more beca...

Thanks for the advice. I just do 1 year contracts though.....I went to the website and looked at the upgrade price and the $50 rebate that was available on the 2 year contract was not available on a 1 year contract.........

Arouth - It's not available if you try to purchase online yourself but it is available if you talk with a person at Verizon who knows what they're doing or asks someone else there who does if they don't. I dialed 611 and went to "other" options, asked that person and she found out that it is available for 1-year contracts. So do it through a live phone contact, then you'll get the $229 price. Good luck!
