Disabling the WiFi circuitry in this phone is Verizon's way of saying:

"WANT INTERNET ACCESS? THEN WE WANT $45 EXTRA PER MONTH.
DON'T LIKE IT? WELL THEN TOUGH, F**K YOU, WE'RE VERIZON, OUR SH|T DOESN'T STINK, SO YOU CAN TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT"
