Speaker and headphone problem

The MP3 player on my samsung 510 is only playing out of one speaker both on my headphones and on my speakers. I currently have a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and am playing my music off a 2Gb Kingston SD card. Does anyone know if it is possible to make it play through both speakers and if so how?
