Hi,

I'm considering gett the u540, but I have a few questions that I'm hoping you can answer. Your help is appreciated...

I use Mac OS X 10.4.latest.

1) Can the phone sync with iSync?

2) I think the phone can sync with DataPilot. Has anyone used DAtaPilot with this phone?

3) Does it come with a wired stereo headset? If not, is one available?

4) Is there an easy way to lock the exterier buttons - something like the "hold" switch on an iPod?

5) Hoe can I get music onto the phone? Remember I use a Mac and iTunes. Do I simply copy .mp3 files to an SD Micro card?

Thanks,

Allan

I can answer 3) and 4), as I don't use or care about DataPilot or iSync (even though I have a Mac) and don't intend to use the 540 as a music phone:

3) It doesn't come with a wired stereo headset. Samsung does make a 'Handsfree Stereo Headset' accessory. If that doesn't float your boat, the 540 uses a 2.5mm headphone jack, which means that iPod headphones won't fit, unless you find a 3.5-to-2.5mm adapter of some sort. But there are plenty of stereo headsets made that use 2.5mm.

4) Yes, you can lock the exterior music player buttons... there is a small 'lock' button on the left side of the phone.

Overall, I like the phone a lot (good reception, good sound quality), but I recommend the extended battery... some folks with the slim regu...

Thanks for the reply. If anyone has a link to an inexpensive stereo headset that will work with this phone, please post it. Mylocal verizon store is worthless.

For the audio they'll work, don't know about the the added features like the integrated call/end button- the U540 doesn't seem to be on the list of supported phones for that item.

I'd say either get the Samsung hands-free headphones, or get the phone first then bring it to a store that carries the headphones you want, and try 'em out in person. But that's me.

Btw, this is the U540 accessories page on the Samsung site. Their headphones are near the bottom. Have no idea if that's what you're lookin' for, but check it out and see:

PS- Actually, ixnay on the Voice Privacy thing. With more time, it's becoming apparent that turning it off only helps a little with the speakerphone echo problem. I'm having most of my problems with one caller in particular, who's on a RAZR.
