Camera quality?
I love my new V3xx except the camera takes really lousy photos. Blurry almost always, and sometimes dark/underexposed.
Is this just my phone? (Are defective cameras common with cellphones?) Will they exchange it for me (I'm still in my 30-day trial) ? Do they make it difficult to exchange when you have problems like this (like saying I'm just a lousy picture-taker or something) ?
Or do other people have this problem too?

Overall, I think the camera quality is ok, considering it's a phone. They will absolutely exchange it for you, it could be a defective model. I felt I had a problem with mine in that pictures came out slightly elongated vertically. I was told the master reset might help, but I exchanged it anyway...although I did master reset at the store, and it did seem to help, so you may want to try that, but you will lose all your settings, personalization, etc. Everything but your address book, which of course is on your sim card. Make sure all your addresses are on the sim first though.

Do you remember if you cropped or zoomed on any of those pictures? The sizes on some were different than the settings the phone has? I am finding that when I zoom the pictures get smaller and smaller.
example:
1024x1280 1x zoom
480x640 2x zoom
240x320 4x zoom
128x160 8x zoom
I did a test and took pics of the same item and only changed the zoom and then viewed them on the pc. I am trying to find out if this is normal, because I am still in the 30 day period. Thank you. 🙂

I went back to the AT&T store and they didn't know the answer to the zoom question. I also talked to someone at motorola and they didn't know the answer either. Please could someone with this phone do the test ...

Nothing wrong with the phone. It's a phone camera not a camera so don't expect much for pictures.
It doesn't actually zoom like a lens zoom. Cropping is a more appropriate term. That's how digital zoom works.
As for the setting there are exposure levels inaddition to settings for sunny, cloudy various indoor lighting etc. All accessible with the navigator buttons.
As for quality Its a phone camera. Don't expect quality. It's not ment to replace and actual camera. At 1.3 pixels you won't get quality pictures and you get what you get.

Are you saying that the pictures becoming smaller by themselves as I zoom is normal for this phone? Cuz my old samsung didn't do that, but maybe it had a different type of zoom? I think that it should be explained in the manual with the part about uploading to the pc.
I do know about the exposure settings, but that doesn't effect the size of the pic. 🙂
