Question

I just switched to at&t and got the Razr V3xx, I love the phone, it does what I need.

If this has been asked before I apologize, I have looked on here and googled and I am not coming up with anything.

Is it possible to use this phone as a tethered modem? If so what are the steps and where can I get a driver. I do not have bluetooth on my notebook but I do have a USB cable.

I am not worried about cost or data plan costs, I am just curious if this can be done.

Thanks

I figured it out. I downloaded Moto Phone Tools and it connects right away. Very very fast.

I have the phone tools (latest version) and it will not connect! I've been trying to get that working for a while now. Did you do anything in particular to set it up?

No I just installed it. It did not pick up my phone the first time, so I unplugged my phone and shutdown the software and restarted it and then plugged my phone back in and it picked it up. Then I saw a button on Moto Phone Tools that says Internet, I click that and it connects. The speeds seem to be pretty fast.

I do have Media Works on my plan, I do not know if that makes a difference.

I have that plan too with unlimited data! Same phone, same plan. No tethering... I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I even deleted the modem in Hardware Manager so the Phone Tools software could detect it again. No dice. Bummer!

Do you have another PC to install the software on? If it worked on another PC and not yours then it could be something specific to your PC that is blocking it or keeping it from running.

That's a good idea. I'll give it a shot and I'll let you know. Thanks...
