I do everything you are doing, but I don't use CV as much. Maybe once in a while to access David Letterman's top ten list. 
I think 3G has lot to do with your situation. Also, I do know that CV (or any video for that matter) will drain your battery too.
I'm not in a 3G area....wonder when that will happen!
