Anyone know if I can do anything to change the mail aspect.. I don;t use any of those crappy services it offers to set up.. Will it take a reflash to open that up to other services?

This is my issue too. On the Cingular page for this phone, under services, Express Email is offered, which from what I can tell, allows using your corporate email, which could be any POP3 account?

If I could access my mac.com mail through the web browser that would be a fine work around for me, but I've tried this on my current phone with OperaMini...I can see my message headers, but can't click on them to open.

Other than that, I'm ready to try this phone. Have been waiting for the Nokia N-75, but looks like April for that one now...I don't want to wait any longer to upgrade!! (from Motorola v-220!)

Hi Rytr23,

I just picked up the v3xx myself-I did not want to fall in the RAZR family, but the price and 3G speed sold me over the KRZR. I used to have the SLVR which I enjoyed, but I used the internet a lot and it was so s-l-o-w. Plus, it really racked up the KB's as I only had 1MB of data monthly. ☹️

I AM a bit disappointed on the v3xx that there is no way-at least that I have found yet-to create shortcuts to my most used programs within the phone-I REALLY miss having my phone get my mail through the email set-up rather than go through the Media Net from Cingular as that used up a lot of KB's.

Has anyone figured out how to get into the email settings to have your emails sent to your phone, or the shortcut issue? I love every...

I thought that too about the shortcuts, but you can do it. Go to Settings😛ersonalize:Home Screen:Home Keys and you can set many functions on the navigation keys, as well as the smart key. Hurray!!

I set up my hotmail through CingularMedia, because I have unlimited data plan anyway, and was having problems always having to log in on MobileMail. I just bookmarked my inbox, so now I can get there in 2 clicks...smartkey opens my bookmarks, and inbox is my first one (order of bookmarks can be changed too). Presto!

Hi!
thanks for the speedy reply!

I have a POP account, so either way, I have to go through MEdia Net, then mail and messaging. Before,on the SLVR, I had 1 shortcut to hit to get my mail but now I guess I just have to get used to a few more clicks. I plan on getting the unlimited package from Cingular, even though it's 20 bucks-but with the graphics, it would suck up my 1MB on one page! I have it free for a month, and love it, so I suppose it's worth it. 🙄

I wish Mobile Email included POP accounts and not just the standard ISP's out there.
I set up a key for my bookmarks, but not sure how to set it to the email and messaging inbox to skip the Media Net home page 😡

Hi Idersch,

New problem.

When I try to EMAIL someone through "messages", using their email address through the phone itself, (www.etc...) I get a message back saying the recipient was rejected by a remote server-Reason: NOT OUR CUSTOMER. (I sent an email to my home PC!!) 😕

Any suggestions? Or do I have to use MEdia Net only to send emails? 🙄

Thanks for any info.

You're sending it as an MMS from your phone to someone's email address, correct? I am not sure if a text message will go to someone's email or not, but an MMS will.

I'm not sure I understand. You say you are emailing, but you use "www.etc" as an example, which is not part of an email address. Am I missing something?

Sorry for the delay..

On previous Moto phones, with email, you had the option to write it as a text, MMS, or email. On the RAZR v3xx, it is either Text, or MMS-SMS-whatever they threw into the software. 🤨

Seeing as though to access your mail, you of course have to use the MEdia Net. Seems that is the only way to send an email, rather than just through the phone's "messaging" capabilities. Now, I DO get a "browser message" from an email recipient-sent to my phone's mycingular@******* number. I don't know why you have a way to input email addresses in the address book, but seem to be unable to use them without going through MEdia Net. Crazy.

I don't know imamotogal...just did a test on my phone. Was able to go into my address book, choose my email, and used "options" to select "send message". I sent an email to myself with no problem, and no MediaNet. One tip...there is no subject line, but if you start off by putting the subject in parenthesizes, it will show up in the subject field of the email. I also sent an email to my phone using "mynumber@mobile.mycingular.com", and it came through as a text message, not a browser message.

You can also download gmail, which is a stand-alone, and won't go through the MediaNet browser, but with that you do have the annoyance of having to "allow data usage" every time you access the web.

Flurry will also work on this phone, I use...

Idersch,

I was able to send a message from my home PC to my phone-but the other way, here was the reply:

FRM:Admin
SUBJ: Error-Message Not Delivered
MSG: Each of the following recipients was rejected by a remote mail server. The reasons 2 of 3 are given by the server are included to help you determine why each recipient was rejected.
Reason: not our Customer. (end.)

I re-sent a test from the phone with text in the subject line, and chose to have a delivery report. It stated the mail was delivered to my home pc, and I check my junk folder, but nothing. I did not get the rejection notice this time, as it said it was delivered. I am using the full email addy-maybe it is my ISP server, but then it would or should work both ways a...

Update

I removed the "www." from my email and it worked! I was able to send a picture/voice recording/text. What once was the *******@cingularme.com is now *******@mms.att.net or *******@txt.att.net since cingy was bought out.

IH,

LOL! I wondered that too-that was the issue, so it seems. It may have been copied over from my sim card from my previous phone that way, and I hadn't changed it.

IH to you to LOL. This phone is not my primary phone, but now I know I can get email to work, sorta, with the MMS thing. Makes me like the phone a little more.
