3G Symbol

I just picked this phone up yesterday, and those of you with 3G experience, is there an icon that pops up on the display when you are in a 3G area? Thanks..

Yes, just to the right of the signal strength bars on the left side of the screen. It is simply a "3G". When you are on edge it is an "E".

I'm presuming there is no option to disable 3G when you're not in a 3G area.
