Use MP3 for ring?

nolas

I have read about the different ways to add my own mp3 files as ringtones (using Phone Uploader, etc..), but is there any way to put them in a folder via the USB cable that came with the phone? It seems odd that there is no manual way to put mp3's in a folder and assign them to people in my contacts list. Is this a design flaw? Any advice?

Thanks!

It isn't a design flaw, it is a way to make money. Sprint (just like every other wireless company) wants you to buy their ringtones, so they don't make it easy for you to get your own.

The uploaders are how you do it, period.

Thanks. I guess my question then becomes, does Sprint charge me for using the uploaders? I assume so but since I am new to Sprint, I wanted to see how much it costs to send a couple 30 second songs to my phone.

Thanks again for your insight.

If you don't have a data plan, yes. But if you don't have a data plan, call and get one free for 30 days, upload your ringers, then cancel the data package and incur no cost.

I was wondering the same thing, I can play all the mp3's I want, but can't make and use my own ring-tones. SO I bought Xingtones ring-tone maker to make my own, so if anyone(With an M1) wants a ring tone, email me and I can send it to your phone. I was also hoping that I could upload it directly from my computer, but $$$$ is the bottom line. And there is no folder to put them in. Have a wonderful day.
