What a joke..EDGE So glad Palm is bringing us technology from 5 years ago. Why would anyone buy this device with the 8525 out?

To make it more AFFORDABLE!!!
If you want a TREO with HSDPA, then wait for the 750 🙄

Wow...um have you heard...the TREO 750 is UMTS only not HSDPA, which means 4-700 k vs 1.5-1.8m and thats a big difference.

The Treo 750 shipping in Europe is software-upgradable to HSDPA. The hardware is capable, which means by the time it hits the States officially, I expect it to be fully HSDPA-enabled.

We will see, but I would tend to lean towards Product managers for Cingular, and Palm representatives both agreeing and saying that the Treo 750 is UMTS only.

but it is upgradeable to HSDPA. cingular keeps pushing back the launch date to try and launch with HSDPA. if not, there WILL be a software upgrade 1Q 07 to HSDPA. cingular and palm have come to this agreement. if someone told you that it wouldn't, they were misinformed. sorry.

the treo 750v already can be upgraded to hspda...so if cingular doesnt come out with it. you can get hspda speeds.

I don't think this Palm is supposed to be targeting the business user. It's (in my opinion) made to compete with the Sidekick and is going to be "marketing directed" at Instant Messaging Teens and have a low or free price tag, thus the lack of (Higher End) modern technology! Anyone looking for a more serious PDA will go with the 8525 or 750! Lets let the kids have there fun!

Did you mean "their fun!"?

But yeah, I agree with you. Treo's and PDA's in general have become more and more popular with teens. With every celeb from Paris to Diddy carrying BB's and SK3's the popularity of the PDA has been infused into the mainstream. This device is moderately priced @ $200 for the novice PDA user who wants the look for half the price.

Wow, we received the 8525's in yesterday and comparing them side by side with the blackjack, the blackjack from a browsing standpoint was far superior. And...here is the funniest part, holding it next to an 8125...no difference, was not very impressed with the 8525

The 680 is just a replacement for users that were happy with the 650. It has some improvements but to keep costs down & for users that are primarily concerned with Email & PIM this is a great device. For those that will need the faster speeds for web-browsing they will pay twice as much for the 750 when it launches.

Why would anyone...? 🤣 Hey Genius, because A lot of people loved the 650 and because Treos are ergonomically correct and pack a great overall system in a very compact device. Do some research before you open your Yapper.....

Does anyone actually have a 680 yet?
Does it have the same problems the 650 had?
"Re-Boot" on its own.

I had a chance to test a 680 for about a week and this is an excellent improvement from the 650. It did not reboot the whole time that I had it and the RF was much better. I agree with the previous post, the 680 was launched as an upgraded 650, for those who loved the functionally of the 650 but actually works and does not reboot. With the new, pricey 3G units out there, Palm made this affordable to attract the younger generation of users, not business users. My wife, for example is a 650 user and would love to upgrade to the 680. She does not care about the 3G speed, WM, and high price of the 750. All she cares about is the phone works, does not reboot, Treo functionally of her calendar, contacts and the ease of typing on the qwerty key...
