Internet Package

I've seen this described as a "smartphone" instead of a PDA.

Does this mean that it will use Cingular's $19.99 MEdia Net package instead of the $39.99 PDA package?

If so, I'll buy one the second it's available.

buy the medianet package, you can actually use medianet package with any phone, pda/smartphone/basic phone.

Actually no, you can't. If you have a MEdia Net package on any Smart Phone/PDA, you'll be charged Pay-per use for data. This phone will either require the $19.99 Smart Phone Connect (unlimited) or the $39.99 PDA Connect (unlimited). I'm not sure which yet, but I'll let you know.

Any verdict on this because if it's only $20/Mo to add on for unlimted web, than I would switch from Verizon to Cingular for this.

I WORK FOR CINGULAR AND I AM 100% SURE THAT SMARTPHONE CONNECT WORKS FOR THIS PHONE. ALSO, THE MEDIA PLAN THAT IS 19.99 WITH 200 TXT WOULD FEASIBLY WORK BUT CINGULAR IS NOT ALLOWED TO ADD THAT TO SMARTPHONES AND PDA'S

I am 100% sure that the media maxx plan works with the device. I talked to Cingular on many levels and everyone agrees that you will get no overage at all using the media maxx. This phone is sort of in between a full level pda phone and a high end standard handset.

BOTTOM LINE: DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU TO GET PDA CONNECT!!!!!!

I agree with "cingularfreak12".

Isn't Media Max plan described as "Unlimited media net"?

Unlimited=Unlimited, right???

Yea but look at what you said...

Media Net and Internet are two totally different things.

Media Net is Cingular's branded net.

Internet is what you've come to love (basically full web pages).

If you're caught using and media net package on a pda (which the blackjack is by Cingular definition), you'll be charged at the higher rate, and there is no warning, you'll just get a huge bill.

From my personal experience, a media net plan will work on any PDA and I have never had a problem with my bill or the phone. The only problem that could happen is if they audit your account and see the huge amount of data being used and change the plan. I used 127 MB on my Nokia E62 last month both on the phone and tethering on my laptop I was only charged the 19.99 that month for the unlimited media net package and was never contacted by Cingular. The only phones that don't work are the blackberrys, they have to have a blackberry plan on them.

and if you get a big bill, you play dumb and they get rid of charges. just dont tether with laptop, thats the only way they will ever notice.

And what you must understand all the plans work on the device, but cingular wants to classify this phone as a PDA because it has a qwerty keyboard. Cingular is instructed all sales channels to add PDA connect to this phone for $39.99. Trust me, I've already seen the documentation. So it really doesn't matter what everyone "TELLS" him, just that Cingular wants to charge $39.99 for the data on this device. And since reps make money on feature adds, $39.99 looks better than $19.99.

I inquired with Cincular CS over the web and got the response, that I can use MediaMax with my E61. Since E61 and this phone are smartphones I would assume that MediaMax is fine.

mediamax plans give you wap pages where available but if you have a 3rd party browser like opera mini(like i do with my 8125) then you can get full html pages.

actually youre wrong....you can use anything you want just have to set to wap.cingular and not isp.cingular....cingular just wants you to buy the more expensive plan. go spend some time on howardforums and you will learn that.

i was looking at this phone last night at a singular dealer and was told that you could use either package but only the $39 package had access to the highspeed network. Can anyone verify if this is correct?

that is BS...you just need a 3G sim card...you can get 3G speeds on medianet, smartphone or pda connect.
