Battery Life Truth
How is it possible that some of us get only 4-8 hours per battery with limited usage, while others get 2 days? Seems like one of three things:
- I have two bad batteries
- I'm doing something wrong (i.e. using the battery somehow without my knowledge)
- 2-day Blackjack battery life is a myth
I've done all of the following:
- turn off bluetooth
- turn off beam
- turn off 3G
- brightness to '1'
- go to task manager and quit all
Still the battery dies before the sun goes down. Anyone care to elucidate? What am I missing?

That sucks and I feel for you. My wife charges her Blackjack every night and only goes through half the battery life at the end of the day with average use (1 hour a day) and using BT. So if she does not charge the battery every night, I'm sure she has enough juice for the following day. Having two bad batteries is very unlikely but you should also look at the possibility of having a bad phone. If you're still within 30 days, you should consider exchanging the phone and see if it gets any better. Good luck.

exchange the batteries or the phone
my BJ lasts me about 2 days each battery but like i said in another post
it took 2 charges per battery to get that much time out of it
and i use it a good amount
mostly for text
so
maybe the batteries are bad is what i am thinking or the whole device is bad
and see i keep bluetooth on that thing and the screen is at 3 on brightness
3g always on
so its prolly not u its prolly the device or battery
good luck man

May I ask, are you in a 3G area or EDGE only? And does she disable anything to extend battery life or does it simply last that long?
Thanks...
...
She's in a GSM/EDGE only area right now which might also explain why the battery last longer. She does not have to do anything with the phone. She's not tech savvy so she just uses the phone straight from the box. She uses blue tooth on every single phone call. I would suggest switching the phone to GSM only and see if you still have the battery problem. I'm not sure how to do this yet on the Blackjack but see if any on the Cingy reps know how. I have an LG CU500 3G phone that you have to go to test mode to switch it to GSM only. If you still have battery problems in GSM mode, you might want to get a new unit with new batteries. We're not getting 3G services in this area until early 2007 so I'm not able to compare. Thanks.

I appreciate your reply -- thanks -- but I feel a bit like I'm in the twilight zone --
Nobody at Cingular or Samsung has heard of the battery dying in 8-10 hours, yet all of the forums (this one, Howards, etc.) contain stories about awful battery life AND tips about turning off bluetooth, email, beaming, and 3G; setting brightness to 1; using task manager to quit all applications; etc. All this just to conserve battery life. I am not alone...
I wonder if this means that some devices are bad OR that some devices shipped with two bad batteries.
In either case, Cingular is sending me to a local store to get two new batteries -- so I'll post an update in a day or two and let you know what happens...
