Blackjack vs. Cingular / HTC 8125 Windows Mob 5 ??
akodNov 21, 2006, 7:04 PM
Hello:
Is the version of the Windows Mobile 5 operating system installed on the Samsung Blackjack identical to the O/S on the Cingular 8125 or is there a difference?
Anyone know?
Thanks much,
Andy

It's very different. The 8125 is PocketPC, while the BlackJack runs Smartphone.
Windows Mobile Smartphone devices don't have a touchscreen, and while there are many similarities, they are generally less powerful than PocketPC devices.

The main thing I noticed today is that the Blackjack doesn't come with the word/powerpoint/excel programs that the 3125 has. The only program (so far) that I've found is a thing called "Picsel Viewer" and it supposedly opens pdf, haven't tested yet. At least the 3125 did include those programs.. not like I'm going be making a pp/excel or word document on a phone but would be nice to have incase I needed to open one of those files. Who knows though, maybe this picsel viewer will loads those files up anyway? I'll just have to find out.

I strike back my post hehe I just now took the time to send myself an excel, word and zip file. Excel and word both can be viewed in the Picsel Viewer, and very sweet I might add, you can zoom in/out and move around the page with ease! It's quick too. From what I can tell it's a view only, but that's all I was really needing in case I get some attachments. The only downfall so far (which I posted asking for a way out) was that it won't recognize zip files, like the 8125 would. So I'm still hoping there's a program I can get to make this happen.
