damaged n95

by myka    Apr 1, 2008, 10:48 AM

i am the proud owner of a nokia n95, and have been for about a year. unfortunately, one day my back-light stopped working and i can no longer see the screen at night or in low light. i want to salvage the phone and not be stuck with a $700 paperweight. nokia claims there is evidence of water damage and corrosion, but i know for a fact that it was never wet, i baby that phone, and the little sticker on the back hasn't changed color. a few questions... do you forumers have any suggestions as to how to get this fixed somewhere or somehow to make it useful again? if not, does anyone want it for parts. it works perfectly fine except for the one flaw. or, does anyone know of a website that would show me how to canibalize it and use it, perhaps taking the GPS out and attaching it to my laptop somehow? any other ideas are also welcome.
