So my friends and I were messing around tonight, and I decided to put a number lock on my phone so they couldn't **** with it too much. It told me to enter lock code.

I enter "9999" (yeah.. I know, not much of a lock).

"Reenter lock code"...

"9999".

"Code Rejected"... "enter PUK code"

"00000000" (Just guessed, probably extremely stupid move)

"Enter unlock code"...

I go through this about 10 times before it starts telling me "SmartChip Rejected". I can't do anything now. I haven't bought insurance for the phone yet (just bought it last week, have 30 days to buy it), and I seriously don't want to get my head bitten off by my mom so I don't want to tell her. One of my friends said I'd probably have to go get a new SIM c...

just reset the phone to original settings and never mess with the lock code. the lock code is to unlock the phone so you can use any sim card. you can only unlock the by getting a code from at&t or nokia. let me know if the reset works.

Nevermind. Got it to reset.

Didn't do anything. My guess is that it's the SIM card.. it probably blocked it for security and it's looking like I'm going to need a new SIM card. Sucks, my parents probably are gonna be pisssed.

When you do that you are setting a lock code for the sim card. When you enter the incorrect code three times it locks your sim card and you generally have to get another one. The only way to get the code is to go to your online account and go under your phone and it should tell you. Or you have to call customer service. If you do the phone unlock code, it is generally 12345. But the sim card code is different. But if you got it reset the congrats...

Went and got a new SIM card yesterday. The guy at my AT&T store was really cool, and ended up giving me the SIM card for free. He also got us lined up on a few other deals, and just went ahead and cleared the $50 rebate for something we got so we didn't have to send it in. I've never had this much luck in any store.
