Gmail Question

Anyone know of any way I can get Gmail to retrive data settings by default? As it is now, everytime I open it, I'm asked if it's ok for gmail to access data, then I have to specify the access point. It's not like the 2 clicks are that much of a hassle, but if I could just do a one click check (like the regular email client), that would be super.

If you figure this out, please post back here. I was wondering the same thing.

Have you tried to set it in the messaging email section as a pop email? Seems like it might be possible, i haven't had time yet to try it.

I've not tried that, as it's not an option through the built in mail client (it's only the mail servers listed there: hotmail, yahoo, SBC Yahoo, BellSouth, and AOL). I'm using the Gmail java app downloaded to the phone. I've tried dang near every configuration I could think of in the data settings for the phone (and the apps, as much as I could manage), but I'm pretty sure that whenever using a program other than what's the default install on the phone, you'll be asked to specify the access point.

Not a huge deal, but it would be a nice update to S60 to be able to set that in the preferences.

Won't this work??
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer= ... »

"# Enter your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com) in the 'Email address:' field, and click 'Next.'
# Enter 'pop.gmail.com' in the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:' field. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:' field.
# Click 'Next.'
# Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') in the 'Account name:' field. Enter your Gmail password in the 'Password:' field, and click 'Next.' "

Not in the im and email folder but the messaging folder and you try a new email? Then it says no mailbox defined, Define now?

No, that won't work for adding a new email address to the built in mail client, but I don't particularly care - I'd rather use the Java app anyway.
