Battery Life: A Concern

I've read a lot about the battery life on this phone. As of now, I'm torn between getting the RAZR v3xx or the N75 for my upgrade in a week.

While I've heard that the battery life on the v3xx is good, I've heard virtually nothing but bad things about the battery life with the N75.

I'm sure you can guess my big selling point for a new phone!

Some questions for existing N75 users:

Would "switching off" the 3G "autoroam" feature save some battery life? I could live with EDGE until I needed to "enable" 3G for loftier pursuits. I'm thinking this might help the battery life.

Does dimming the screen display help save on the battery? Again, just a thought...

Any feedback or tips would be helpful!

I don't think you can turn off the 3G. Battery life on this phone has not been a problem for me.

Two hours of talk time is just too short for me. This is part I keep wrestling with about this phone.

That's a very good point. I hear different comments from different users. I'm not sure how to proceed!

i just went to a store to exchange my n75 because of the battery and hissing sound, when i tried the new one in the store the new one had the noise as well, i think im going to return it and wait a while and try again or wait until nokia has it and buy it from them....2 hrs talk time is not going to cut it....not for 200 bucks...

😢

i have been experiencing same hissing noise and battery life is short and unpredictable one day it was on full all day next day when i turned it on it went down to 3 bars. metal ring around the camera lens little loose. i mentioned earlier no one paid attention but this VERY IMPORTANT when you insert sim it stays there as soon as you put battery it clicks out of the lock/latch i tried many other ways moment you put battery it comes out loose i would want my sim card locked so that it doesn't move around!! battery keeps it in wont let it come out. not to happy at all at $250 plus tax minus $50 rebate. took it to cingy store here and guys told me that yes that hissing sound is not right he turned his blackberry on, no noise. i think...

I'm wondering if that has something to do with the phone "switching" between network modes. I know 3G challenge the battery life.

at howardforums people have listed how to turn off 3g:

MENU, SETTINGS, CONFIG. , CONNECTION , Then go down to Packet DATA. Then change packet data conn. from WHEN AVALIABLE, to WHEN NEEDED. There ya go.

i havent tried cause i dont have one yet, but please do let me know if this works.
thnks in advance

Can you elaborate on "it works"? Does the setting change increase the battery life? Just wondering... 🙂

thanks to nokia lover i did the settings as mentioned and took the sign of edge/gprs from the screen and i was wondering if i could connect online if needed so i tried going to media net and it connected so i guess what it does is instead of wondering and looking for gprs/edge it just turns on when needed. i think it should save some battery life!!! thanks again!!!
