Date to watch: April 6th

The date to watch this week is Friday, April 6th. That's when CTI-Miami says it will have the N75 in stock. I'm skeptical because saying that the phone will be out soon helps preorders. I wouldn't be surprised if the ETA gets pushed back after hours on the 5th.

You'll remember: Negri Electronics said that it would have the N75 in on the 29th of March, and on the 28th they bumped the date to the 15th of April.

Also, the boy genius is reporting that Cing-Cing is giving $50 rebates for the N75 in the April - June timeframe, which would be odd if they didn't think of releasing it.

I am to the point of saying enough is enough. The Nokia reps are telling the Cingy Reps soon, very soon. Last month I was told a few weeks by someone I trust from within, that few weeks is up next week. My fear is they may be holding off until the Iphone release for the N75 for some strange reason.

For me if it is not out this week then I am going to upgrade and play the return game each month until it does come out. That or just say no to Nokia altogether as the other phones like the N76 and stuff are not available either. Way too many good phones on the horizon to wait for this to come out.
Truth is the 3G runs slow and phones are popping up with 3.6meg HSDPA. I want fast 3G on a smartphone but not a PDA phone as I like to use ...

I took my V3xx as an upgrade and then returned it they reinstated my upgrade within a week. But the store asked if I wanted to get a different phone right away. I did not.
You can always buy the phones with no contract then return them and get a full refund each time.
For me it may be a little different as I have business linked accounts so I have other advantages an example would be I can get new Sims free and personal accounts pay.

You sound like you must be a real joy to deal with in the store.

Maybe I just want what I know is available elsewhere.
But I am a loyal Cingy customer had the service for 10 years and many phone lines and normally get a new phone every 9-12 months as I burn the mout with use. I rarley have a contract and normally buy the phones outright.
Although this time I think I am using the contract upgrade. Will never change from Cingy although in Europe I use T-Mobile as I can get pay as you go data for a reasonable daily rate.

I know it is coming it is just a case of when??
I have some people I trust who told me it is on its way and the Nokia reps are talking of the release, but not a date. So the big Q is when but the other thing is better technology is coming daily and it may just be yesterdays model before we get it. "Like the I-phone which needs 3G" Why would Cingy release any phone that does not have 3G is a puzzle get the updated or 2nd Gen model done first.
Our biggest problem in the US is 2100 mhz for 3G there are a few phones that are out there running with the US system of 850 and 1900 for 3G, All I say is release the phone now before it becomes a fancy paperweight Or I am looking at other technology for my daily grind.

True to a point, Palm, Samsung and LG have no problems whatsoever making 3g/hsdpa phones in 850/1900.

It seems to me, AT&T/Cingular would make some kind of announcement about a release date a week or so beforehand, rather than having phones magically appear in the stores.

Not really Cingy released the V3xx with minimal fuss. The 6126 had no announcements, just showed up.
If you go to most stores the reps will tell you they often do not know of a release until it arrives. In fact I had my V3xx before my local store and I was returning it before they even had a working store model for display.
I also think the stores have to order the phones and some are reluctant to stock them if they do not move. This especially with Non company stores, in fact many stores do not stock the Treo 750 and in areas where 3G is not available that is more the case not to stock all 3G phones from what I have seen.

In all reality, most people who buy phones don't care, don't watch whats coming out, they go in, either get a basic freebie, or minor upgrade. If they have certain needs or like something trendy looking they may go for a premium model. In truth, if and when the N75 is released, it will be given more celebration here then anywhere else.

BTW, I will get it if and when it comes available.

Ok, it's April 6th, but where's the N75? I just got an e-mail from a Mr. Levy at CTI-Miami, and he wrote:

"We should be getting them early next week."

So, they've slipped a few days.

I know this doesn't help with Cingular, but if you want a unlocked N75, there is a way. Negri Electronics is still has April 15th on their website for the N75, but the N95 they have in stock.
