N75 Latest and More

Talked with a few Cingular guys on upcoming phone releases and why the delays? I was told they are preparing the N75 for release right now and it may be on the website first, maybe as soon as Friday. But with that news they also said Cingular are set to release new updates to the Network to run at a faster data rate, which happens in summer 2007. That release has been delaying most of the new higher tech phone release dates so we still could wait to closer to that network upgrade, But to make choices worse or better the N95 had been approved at Cingular and could be released by year end.

Londoner,

Thanks for the update. Based on the news that their 3G network upgrade is delayed, I'm going to guess that the release more towards May-June as jks23 suggested. It wouldn't suprise me if that even stretched out longer.

Here's the question though: At what point can Nokia claim breach of contract and start selling their phones unlocked on their own website? Nokia is getting screwed by this: all of their cool phones, some specifically designed for Cingular's 3G network, are being shelved by at least 6 months because of Cingular being behind schedule with upgrading their network.

That's got to cost Nokia a pile of money. If I were them, I'd be pretty steamed.

And, I might add, as an irritated Cingular customer, I'm think...

Maybe so, but let me ask you about behind the curve? Where in the US can you get 3g service on T-Mobile? I know they are "planning" on rolling it out in some markets this fall. And what phones since they are using new spectrum?

But I do agree Cingular has been slower then they should with this phone and with 3g in their smaller markets.

I really wanted this phone, but I think I'm just going to wait till June for the iphone. At least Apple gave a specific release date. Cingular is like the Forest Gump phone company, nobody ever has any idea when anything is being released. Just yesterday, I asked my local cingular store about the n75. They told me that they had never heard of it!!!

😎 GUYS YES N75 IS THE COOLEST PHONE AROUND AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE (ONCE IT IS RELEASED LOL!!!) I THINK IT IS WORTH THE WAIT LIKE I READ SOMEONE HAD WRITTEN EARLIER DON'T GIVE UP DONT LET THEM WIN LOOK AT THE PRICE AROUND $200 A N SERIES NOKIA PHONE 100% WORTH IT. T-MOBLE NEVER HAS BAD RECEPTION IN MANY AREAS COMPARED TO CINGULAR. IPHONE TO ME IS A JOKE FOR ABOUT $500 NO 3G WHICH WILL BE RELEASED NEXT YEAR, TO CHANGE THE BATTERY YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT IN AND MANY OTHER THINGS I HAVE HEARD ABOUT IT. I THINK WE ARE AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL BEFORE WE KNOW N75 WILL BE OUT. I AM SAYING THIS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR PAST 6 MONTHS. IN THE MEANTIME LET'S KEEP EACH OTHER INFORMED FROM WHAT EVER WE FIND OUT. THAT CINGULAR # WHERE THEY SIGN YO...

Today the N93 is showing on The Cingular Sales Portal with a release date of next month, my cingular guy says April for that phone. Does not have a release date for the N75 yet although New phones were due in the store today. He said we have several new phones getting ready for release including a possible E-Series Nokia.

I'd be tempted to call shenanigans on your cingular sales guy. The n93 is a triband phone lacking the 850 band. That would make it a little less than useful on portions of the cingular network.

Unfortunately, you can call shenanigans on pretty much everything you see posted here and be right 100% of the time.

He may be wrong on the phone number but he can look in the Sales Portal to see what is coming. When he says a Nokia Phone is coming Next Month and Cingular has it on the internal site I guess that is a good guide something is happening.

I am curious what this 'network upgrade' is and why it delays the release of any handsets.

Isn't the new Moto V3xx capable of speeds faster than the network offers?!

The way I understand it is that Cingular runs a max of 2.5 Meg on its network. HSPDA is ranked in category like edge. Max speed is 28+ Meg. The most a phone I have seen capable of right now is 3.6 Meg Yes the V3xx (I had one sent it back) the other phones Sync, LG500, Blackjack. All are maxed at 1.8 Meg; The Treo 750 is waiting for a patch to run at 1.8 but runs in 3g right now. The real Tech data is 1.8=Category 4 and 3.6=Category 6, Cat 10=14.4 Meg.

I was told that Summer Cingular will be upgrading so the network can handle 6 Meg and the goal for the future is 9-12 Meg. The added speeds help with lower signals to get faster speeds.
