Made ringtones too big for phone

I made my ringtones with audacity and it says they are too large to be ringtones. how do i resize them?

Trim the audio to about 30 seconds. If you use a full song, it's a waste of space anyway because the ringtone only plays for a short period of time. If you notice, there is an "audio" directory as well as a "music" directory. Use the audio directory for your ringtones and they don't mix in with your music.

I also use Audacity I do think 30 seconds is too long, i think i usually keep it 15 to 20 seconds.

Also, try lower bitrates when compressing to mp3. 30 seconds at 96 kbps should be small enough. 64 kbps would be even better. Since it's a ringtone coming out of a phone speaker, quality shouldn't matter so much.
