yes

only if it's a very short song, the limit is 600kb

What's a ringtone converter?
just a audio [mp3] "editor"? Like audiology?

I've learned that it's best to shorten the ringtone i want down to teh 13 or so seconds that it get's played, and then move that to teh phone... no reason to keep a huge file that only gets used 4% or so, plus if i ever move song around, or pop out or switch the card, the ringtone is still working

I have not tried this but the Cingular store near me was selling them specifically for the A707 (take that with the usual grain of salt) and some people on howardforums.com report that it works. I got a 1GB for cheap and will only spring for a 2GB when the price drops.

Re: MP3's as ringtones
The phone automatically puts any recognized audio file type, including MP3, that is ALSO under 600k in size into the Audio folder on the phone or card instead of Music. It can then be used as a ringtone. It is not necessary to convert the song from MP3 to another format but it is almost definitely necessary that you shorten it with an MP3 splitter or editor. It would have to be a really short song otherwise to be less than 600k. 15 se...
