I found a 4gig MicroSD card, has anyone tried a 4 gig in their sync yet?

How about 2gig, any problems?

TIA

The Sync takes 2Gb cards just fine, despite some conflicting advice from Samsung and ATT. I don't know if they'll take a 4Gb card, but that would sure be nice. I bet it would take a while to initialize in the phone though. Lets get a volunteer to try one out and let us all know!!!

i'm stuggling on ordering one to see if it works. i guess it could always be sold on Bay if it doesn't work. I think i'll wait a little bit to see if anyone has tried it.

If i try it, i'll make sure to post for everyone. if someone has already tried it, please post for all to see.

"Specifically, all the 4GB MicroSD cards are SDHC, which are not compatible. If the 4GB card were a SD format, maybe it would work."
Found this info in another forum.

DGStrawn,

I'm going to just get a 2gig card, maybe a couple. What brand/model do you use that you aren't having problems with?

TIA

Jawier:
I have been using the Sandisk with great success. I have two of them that I swap back and forth in my phone and I am contemplating getting a third. For goodness sakes, don't spend $60 retail when you can get them on eBay. I just got my second one for $18.50 and it came with a Topram card reader as well; plus I got it in two days.

I got the sandisk this weekend. Office Depot had them less then half price, so I picked it up. (i'll probably get another if this works out for me) I put it in the phone and it seems to read it, but is there a way to check how much memory is left on it?

I put it in the card reader and pluged that into my computer so i could put alot of songs on at once. the computer isn't recognizing it, and says i need to format? if i format it, willl the phone still read it? I'm new to this whole SD memory thing.

Thanks for the help.

To check for memory there are two methods. First and best is to press Menu / Settings / #11 Memory Settings / #3 My Stuff / Right Arrow to "On Card" and there you get a nice little graphic showing all memory usage.
Or you can hit the Options soft key / My Stuff/ right arrow to go from "on phone" to "on card" then scroll down to music and press the options soft key and scroll down the menu to Properties. That will show on a black screen how much memory used by that folder. Go back and scroll down to Downoladed Media if you downloaded songs from napster and check the properties of that folder as well.
But I don't ever use either method. I just check the drive properties of the card in my card reader while it is plugged into my PC.

Ok i have put all my music on the MicroSD card, it's a 2gig Sandisk card. using the adaptor card and my card reader i'm putting about 1.5 gig on the disk. as soon as i put it in the phone, it won't read the card. and says that it's blank.

I've tried the suggestion that you pull the card out and put it back in, still no go.

i take the card out and put it back in the adaptor and use the card reader, well the file and director names are just a bunch of garbage and the computer won't read them. i have to format and try again.

What am i doing wrong? I have alost tried to push the MP3 across using a blue tooth connection and it says "invalid permissions" any thought on that?

Thanks for your help.

Oh man, I really feel your pain. You got a great toy that doesn't work and you're an inch from success and bliss. OK, here's what we're gonna do: I have to ask a whole bunch of stupid questions to try to nail this down. I'm certainly not trying to insult you; its just part of the trouble shooting process. Ready?
1. Computer operating system? Win98? 2K? XP? Vista? Mac?
2. What is the format of the music files? MP3? WMA? MP4? eAAC+?? Page 107 of the manual lists all the supported types. Betcha have MP3s but be sure what you have IS supported.
3. Were any of the song files downloaded from iTunes or Napster To Go or another song service, or are they your own CD rips? (This relates to the permissions message.)
4. How did you create yo...

Wow, a lot of questions… let’s start with. I finally got it to work, however every time I go to use it, the phone doesn’t recognize the card and I have to eject it and inert it again and it’s fine, have you found any solutions to that issue??? I have seen this problem pop up a couple of times, is it just because of the size of the card, do you have this happen a lot?

I think my problem was my work computer. Its win2000, and it’s been locked down by our IT group and I’m sure there was some config issue that they have messed with. I used my computer at home (XP), Win MediaPlayer 10 with the sync option, with the card reader on my printer, and it worked fine. I’m using MP3, nothing downloaded from the web.

I was doing the drag and ...

>>I’m not sure I understood the AT&T thing, what was this for?

Its a URL to get tutorials and walk-throughs for the phone from ATT. Thats where I found that I had to have MediaPlayer 10 and XP to dounload from Napster. I have Win2K and MediaPlayer 9. (Had to go to my wife's 'puter to do it.) Anyway theres some pretty good info there. I see that you can't copy/paste like I thought when I wrote it, so just click on the link and it'll take you right to the proper page.

BTW, I forgot to ask "How new (old) is your phone. What you have to do sounds so bogus that if you're within your 30 day warranty period, I'd march that phone right back to your dealer and demonstrate your difficulties and demand a replacement. Good luck, glad you got some sort of success but it can be better.
